John,
Today, we honor the veterans who put everything on the line to serve this
country.
Their courage and sacrifice deserve more than our gratitude. They deserve
a government that has their back as they navigate life after serving.
I say that because far too often, MAGA politicians wrap themselves in the
flag and call themselves “true patriots.” But then, they turn around and
gut the very programs that help veterans get the care and stability they
deserve.
That’s not patriotism. That’s hypocrisy.
Honoring our veterans means using our collective power to support them by
guaranteeing healthcare, affordable housing, and opportunity.
When I led Wayne County’s Department of Health, Human & Veterans Services,
I saw firsthand how broken the system could be, and how much good
government can do when it’s run by people who care.
We restructured the agency from the ground up to better serve the 1.8
million Michiganders who relied on it.
We cut through red tape, expanded access to care, and worked every day to
bring dignity and compassion back to public service.
I’m proud of what we accomplished, but I know there’s still more work
ahead.
That’s why I’m running for Senate — to build a government that serves the
people, not corporations, and one that honors the courage of our veterans
with action, not empty words.
