Last night, eight Democrats in the Senate sided with Republicans to end Trump’s shutdown.
Are we disappointed? Hell yeah.
Was this whole thing a complete waste of time? Absolutely not.
We took a real stand here in the name of affordable healthcare. We showed that we have a backbone. We tried our hardest to govern when Donald Trump and his party refused to lift a finger. And America noticed.
Most of this country (rightfully) thinks this was all on Republicans. And that’s going to sway plenty of voters.
So instead of getting discouraged, it’s time to get motivated. Our next big opportunity is already on the horizon. Early voting for Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District starts in just two days, and we have to be ready.
Always focusing on the next race is how we’re going to rebuild our democracy. Flipping this seat puts our side in the driver's seat. There’s no time to stop. We have to get to work now.
