John, I'm pissed off.

Last night, eight Senate Democrats betrayed the American people and voted with Republicans to end their shutdown.

Democratic voters won huge last week, sending a message that they want us to fight against Trump and the GOP trying to rip away SNAP benefits and make health care more expensive.

And now just a week later, Democratic Party leadership gave up the only leverage we had to protect working people from skyrocketing health care costs.

And what did we get for it?

No guarantee on affordable healthcare. No plan to lower costs. Just a promise to “maybe” vote on it later -- and we all know damn well MAGA Republicans won’t.

This is why people don’t vote. This is why Republicans can still win elections. Most importantly, this is why the American people are struggling to survive.

We deserve new leadership in Washington . Working people in CA-22 and across this country are calling on their representatives to fight like all of our lives depend on it - because they do .

And here’s my pledge to you. For as long as I’m breathing, I’ll be fighting. It’s time for a new era, and together we can make that happen.
