John,
Democrats just caved on the shutdown—and got nothing in return.
Here’s what just happened: a handful of Senate Democrats (most who don’t plan on running again) joined Republicans to vote yes on reopening the government, but offering zero help for families. It doesn’t restore Medicaid funding, protect Affordable Care Act subsidies, or stop healthcare premiums from skyrocketing for millions of Americans.
The Senate still has to vote, and the House will have to follow, so there’s still a chance to push back. But if this deal passes, it leaves Americans behind, once again. While politicians in Washington shrug, families back home are staring down medical bills they can’t pay and groceries they can’t afford.
I would say I can’t believe it, but that’s not true. I can. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: this isn’t leadership. It’s surrender.
The way I flipped the tables in 2021 to stop mass evictions during the pandemic is the same way I’d be fighting right now, to protect your healthcare and your dignity.
St. Louis deserves a representative who’s willing to lay it all on the line. Because when people’s lives are on the line, you fight. You don’t fold.
If you’re tired of watching Democrats cave while Republicans gut our future, I need you with me today. We’re building a movement that doesn’t back down, but we can’t do it without grassroots power.
Chip in $5, $10, or whatever you can right now to say you’re done with surrender and ready to fight for real change:
