Tomorrow is Veterans Day, a time we come together as local residents and throughout our state to honor the men and women who have served our country in uniform. The courage, sacrifice, and sense of duty shown by those who serve/have served embody the very best of our state and nation. We owe our freedoms to your service and to the families who have stood beside you.

On Veterans Day and every day, Minnesota proudly thanks you for your dedication and commitment to protecting our way of life, keeping us safe and defending our great American liberties. God bless our veterans, and God bless Minnesota and the United States of America!

Beyond the Yellow Ribbon

As House Speaker, I was honored to present a State of Minnesota Proclamation this morning to Minnesota-based Starkey Hearing Technologies, recognizing the company for achieving its Beyond the Yellow Ribbon status.

Beyond the Yellow Ribbon’s mission is to coordinate agencies, organizations, and resources to meet the needs of Minnesota's military veterans, service members, and families in all military branches. Starkey, a company that manufactures hearing aids and other hearing-related technology, is part of that support network and established itself as a leader in the community. It has a strong relationship with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as the only American owned and operated hearing aid manufacturer.

Minnesota has set the standard for taking care of our veterans and for ensuring that they are a bipartisan priority. I'm so proud that in the House we have a standalone Veterans & Military Affairs Committee that can focus its full attention on veterans issues.

This is a commitment that extends throughout state government but also through programs like Beyond the Yellow Ribbon extends to our partners in the private sector as well. Beyond the Yellow Ribbon is an outstanding partnership across more than 87 companies and organizations and 53 community networks that provides a number of critical connections and resources for Minnesota’s Veterans, service members and families in all military branches.

Knowing more than a million veterans have hearing loss, it’s exciting Starkey can serve our military members.

Here’s the good news: the state has a website available for citizens to quickly search to see if they have any unclaimed money – and it’s super easy to do at the Minnesota Unclaimed Property website. A step-by-step guide is available to help walk you through the process.
