Gov. Greg Abbott just stood in a BBQ restaurant in Cypress and declared his goal for 2026:

“Turn Harris County dark red.”

And he’s putting $90 million behind that mission.

Let’s be clear about what that means: He wants to silence the most diverse, dynamic, working-class community in Texas — and replace it with MAGA extremism, billionaire-funded school privatization schemes, and rigged elections.

He’s targeting our public schools. He’s targeting our congressional districts. And yes, he’s targeting TX-09.

This is one of the five districts Republicans are trying to steal through gerrymandering and extreme manipulation. I’m running to make sure they fail.

I’m Terry Virts. I flew 45 combat missions as a U.S. Air Force fighter pilot. I commanded the International Space Station. And now I’m stepping up to fight for this district — not for billionaires, not for Austin insiders, but for the people who live and work in TX-09.
