Dear friend,
It has been four years since I re-joined Grassroots with the task of directing our work on resource mobilization for social movements. Developing a rationale for Solidarity Philanthropy has been a collective effort beyond our team. Some of our supporters like you – along with movement partners – have fundamentally shaped how we approach the work. This collective vision has propelled us to another level of building community and making bold moves, as these times demand from us.
Today, our framework [[link removed]] is out in the world making waves!

Did you see that we were recently featured in a piece in Forbes magazine [[link removed]] ?!
Our co-Executive Director Chung-Wha Hong hit the nail on the head when she said: “Philanthropy can and must rise to meet the moment. This begins with funders [and donors] taking an honest look at how our own systems and practices can unintentionally perpetuate the very problems we seek to solve.”
Despite the enormous challenges we are facing, from genocide in Palestine to intensifying climate chaos, we remain steadfast in our belief that we can resource communities driving change worldwide and transform philanthropy into a movement support sector.
Our staff is inspired. But we cannot achieve this alone. We need you to accompany us closely, because the fight for our future is on, for all of us.
All our best,
