John,
It's Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes. By now, my office has sued the Trump administration 29 times. Most recently, I joined 20 state AGs suing to protect public service student loan forgiveness.
29 lawsuits is a lot, but it’s worth it — they’ve saved Arizonans $1.5 billion.
That's $1.5 billion for Meals on Wheels, Head Start, Americorps, and High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas programs. That's money Donald Trump tried to take away from Arizona families. But we stood up and fought back.
In fact, 80% of my lawsuits against Trump have been granted temporary restraining orders or preliminary injunctions. Sometimes, Trump just gives up and doesn't even appeal. Other times, when he really cares about something — like his illegal tariffs that tax the American people — he takes it all the way to the Supreme Court. (We're fighting him there, too.)
Think about the alternative. If we had a Republican AG in office, Arizona would be $1.5B worse off.
At the end of the day, if we don't stand up to Trump now, future presidents and other elected officials will learn from this moment and abuse their power. And that’s exactly what I swore an oath to defend the people of Arizona from.
Can you chip in today to help me keep fighting for Arizonans?
I'll keep suing Trump when he violates the Constitution — I'd do the same thing if a Democratic president broke the law.
Thanks for having my back,
Kris
