What will this webinar cover?
The burden of diabetes weighs heavily on families and communities across the United States. Devices like Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGMs) are a cost-saving technology that help people with diabetes stay healthy at work and school, manage their disease more effectively, and avoid preventable complications and hospitalizations. These devices are currently covered by Medicaid in at least 47 states.
While significant progress has been made at the state level to expand coverage, recent cuts to Medicaid under H.R. 1, “The One Big Beautiful Bill,” are putting immense pressure on state Medicaid programs reduce optional benefits, thereby threatening access to essential devices like CGMs. Further, among the states that do provide CGM coverage, many fall short of meeting the American Diabetes Association's Standards of Care.
During this webinar [[link removed]] , Families USA, leading diabetes advocates, and researchers will discuss how to protect and expand CGM coverage nationwide. The discussion will feature:
* Personal stories from individuals who rely on CGMs for their diabetes management.
* An overview of the current landscape of CGM coverage across the states.
* A panel conversation on effective advocacy strategies for state health advocates to prevent rollbacks and advance access to life-saving technology.
I look forward to seeing you there! If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to me [[email protected]?subject=Defend Progress. Extend Coverage. Empower Consumers. Protecting CGM Access at the State-level] .
In solidarity,
Emma Green
