When I think of the type of person I want by my side in the Senate, taking on the special interests and speaking truth to power, this is what comes to my mind: a fighter.

MJ Hegar is the fighter we need to flip Texas and put power in the hands of the people, and I am so proud to support her. On Tuesday, Texans will head to the polls to choose their nominee to defeat Sen. John Cornyn. We need to make sure MJ wins on Tuesday so she can win in November.

I told MJ I’d do everything I can to help her, and right now that means asking you this: If you’re in a place to donate, will you support MJ by making a donation of $3 right now?

MJ hasn’t spent her whole career in politics trying to please big donors to fund campaign after campaign. She bravely served her country as a combat search and rescue pilot in Afghanistan, earning a Purple Heart and Distinguished Flying Cross with Valor, and then took on the Washington establishment -- opening military jobs to millions of women.

MJ knows that the rules of Washington are rigged to benefit the wealthy and well-connected. She knows that when a politician isn’t voting in the interests of their constituents, just follow the money, and you’ll see who they’re really working for. So, why has Senator Cornyn refused to support policies that the majority of Texans and Americans believe in, like common-sense gun safety measures? Because he’s been taking millions of dollars from special interests like the gun lobby, Big Pharma, and the private detention industry.

It is NOT enough to win the White House in 2020. We need a new Senate majority leader, because with Mitch McConnell, we have no shot of taking action on climate change, expanding health care coverage, or reforming our immigration system. With Mitch in charge, change goes nowhere. Bills that would help millions of Americans simply die in Mitch's legislative graveyard.

We need to flip the Senate, and MJ is the key to flipping Texas. So if you're able to, I’m asking you to pitch in whatever you can and fight by MJ’s side:
