Fifty years ago today, on Nov. 10, 1975, a newspaper publisher named Nelson Poynter founded a school for journalists based on a belief that news organizations must never compromise on accuracy or the integrity of information to earn the public's trust.

Through our ownership of the Tampa Bay Times, we are a powerful advocate for quality local news.
We've expanded our mission to be a global leader in upholding fact-based information through the Pulitzer-winning website PolitiFact and by creating the International Fact-Checking Network.
Our MediaWise program helps citizens gain the power to sort out fact from fiction online for themselves.
And, as always, we remain a responsive resource to the news industry, through training and coaching and mentorship.
