COVID-19 has shown that our health care system is in dire need of reform.
- Tens of millions have lost their jobs and their employer-based health insurance at the exact time they need health care the most.
- Black and Latinx are nearly twice as likely to die from the virus than their white neighbors.
- Meanwhile, private health insurance companies are continuing to make billions of dollars in profits.
So it’s no surprise that during the course of this pandemic, support for Medicare for All is near an all-time high. From dire lack of PPE, to private insurance companies making billions in profit – people are ready for change.1
We have an unprecedented opportunity to make the case for guaranteed health care and bring more people who’ve been directly impacted by this crisis into our movement. According to recent polls, 69% of voters support Medicare for All.2 We know we have the support, but we need to bring more passive supporters into action. That’s where we need your help.
Will you RSVP now to join our strategy call TOMORROW, Tuesday July 14th, at 5pm PT/8pm ET? We’ll be joined by Rep. Ro Khanna, Patrisse Cullors, Cathy Kennedy, RN, and Dr. Sanjeev Sriram.

During the call we’ll discuss our strategy to rapidly grow the number of people who are active in this movement, get them trained, and pressure our legislators to choose a side.
While Medicare for All wouldn’t fix every single problem that’s arisen from COVID-19, we know that we would be better prepared to keep patients and nurses safe and healthy. Here’s why:
- Medicare for All would allow us to offer any vaccine that is developed to everyone with no financial barriers. When the government is the single payer, it can negotiate the lowest possible drug prices (much lower than any individual insurance company).
- COVID-19 continues to expose vast racial disparities in our health system. One crucial way to address these disparities is to make sure that everyone, no matter what, is guaranteed health care free at the point of service.
- Everyone, regardless of employment status, would receive comprehensive, high quality care – making sure that anyone can see a doctor, which would allow us to implement the widespread testing and tracking policies needed to keep this pandemic under control.
- It would change the way we reimburse hospitals to ensure they have the money they need to stay open. Global budgeting would allow targeted investment in underserved communities.
- We would move away from the just-in-time supply chain model to make sure there is surplus personal protective equipment, hospital beds, and other necessary equipment.
- And we would ensure that money spent on health care actually goes to patient care instead of into the pockets of executives and shareholders of massive health care corporations.
We hope to see you on the call tomorrow to discuss these issues more in depth so you’re ready to hit the ground running this summer.
You don’t want to miss it.
