 John, This avoidable, extended Republican shutdown is another reminder of why we urgently need a new, Democrat-led Congress. And after Prop 50’s passage, we have a chance to win the majority through flipping red-to-blue districts right here in California. One race that needs particular focus is CA-22, where my friend Dr. Jasmeet Bains is running to give Bakersfield the true representation they’ve long deserved. Jasmeet is a trusted doctor with decades of experience keeping families healthy in her community. Over the past four years she’s proven she can win in one of our Assembly’s biggest battleground districts while still taking on our toughest policy fights. 
It's imperative that we send people to Washington who have the experience and a track record of making substantive progress. The people of CA-22 need Jasmeet representing them now more than ever. This district has more residents who rely on Medi-Cal than anywhere in the nation. Despite this, the Republican incumbent voted to cut these life-saving benefits to give billionaires a tax break. But Jasmeet has a different track record that includes making health care more accessible, fighting the fentanyl epidemic, and standing up for seniors and veterans. one that uplifts her constituents.
