John, I'm writing to you from Houston, Texas, where I'm supporting Amanda Edwards as she advances to a runoff in her election for Texas' 18th Congressional District.

Republicans have left Texas' 18th Congressional District without a representative for seven months. When Rep. Sylvester Turner died just a few weeks after taking office, Republican Gov. Greg Abbot chose to leave the seat vacant instead of calling a special election because he wanted to help Washington Republicans maintain their slim majority in the U.S. House.

It's crucial we elect Amanda Edwards to represent this district who has gone without a voice for far too long.

Tuesday's election was close — and this runoff will be tough, but we know that Amanda has the grit and determination to successfully cross the finish line.
