As we suffer through the COVID-19 crisis, our nation’s public health experts should be front and center informing American citizens how to stay safe and healthy.
Unfortunately, President Donald Trump continues to sideline these experts and ignore their advice, deepening the crisis with each passing day.
During a recent press conference, Trump even criticized Dr. Anthony Fauci for his shifting opinion on masks. Fauci was initially against the widespread use of masks amongst the public to preserve limited supply for medical providers but is now an advocate for masks. Trump believes this shift demonstrates Fauci’s mishandling of the COVID crisis. Yet, it is Trump, by continually downplaying the severity of the virus and ignoring the advice of Fauci and other scientific experts to safely open the economy, that has mishandled the COVID-19 pandemic.
