**THE FORUM DAILY**

A man who assisted U.S. troops in Afghanistan has been detained by Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE), reports Jennifer Brown of The Colorado Sun [link removed].

Mohammad Ali Dadfar was one of thousands who feared for his and his family’s safety during the fall of Kabul in 2021. Three years later, the family made it to the U.S. safely and settled in Colorado.

Last month Dadfar was detained as he drove a commercial truck through Indiana. He is now in a detention center in Missouri.

"My husband worked for 14 or 15 years to fight the Taliban. We had a really hard time coming from Afghanistan and getting here to the United States," said his wife, who noted that her husband is on the legal pathway to asylum and has no criminal record. "Most of our lives have been under war, and now that we’re here, they detained my husband."

While there have been bipartisan efforts to help Afghan allies resettle in the U.S. with certainty — see our summary of Afghan Adjustment legislation [link removed] and the Enduring Welcome Act [link removed] — actions by the Trump administration are pushing these goals further out of reach, report Giselle Ruhiyyih Ewing and Daniella Cheslow of Politico [link removed].

"I fully support our legislation and President Trump’s work to secure the border," said Rep. Zach Nunn (R-Iowa), an Enduring Welcome Act co-sponsor. "Now we must also keep our word to those who fought alongside us."
