The 2025 UN climate summit officially kicks off today. “COP30,” as this year's conference is known, is the premier gathering for the world’s climate decision-makers — from heads of state to business and Indigenous leaders, NGOs, civil society groups and more.
This is the moment for countries to come together and drive global progress on cutting emissions, building resilience, protecting nature, and financing the transition to a greener, safer future. If the conference is successful, it could help move the world from goals and pledges to real action that ensures a safer future.

Several important announcements were already made: |

- Last week's Leaders’ Summit set the stage for COP30 with major pledges from world leaders as well as political calls to action ahead of the formal negotiations. Read the statement.

Brazil formally launched the much-anticipated Tropical Forests Forever Facility (TFFF) — a new fund that will pay countries to protect and sustainably manage their tropical forests. Several countries have already committed funding, with more expected during the summit. Read the statement.

Countries announced three global commitments that support the critical role of Indigenous Peoples, Afro-descendants and local communities in protecting forests, promising them increased finance and stronger land rights. Read the statement.
- Brazil and other countries committed to a Call to Action on Integrated Fire Management. It includes a framework to boost resilience in the face of increasingly extreme wildfires. Read the statement.

The COP29 and COP30 Presidents released the Baku-to-Belém Roadmap, an action plan for delivering $1.3 trillion in climate finance to developing countries annually by 2035. A key task at COP30 is for countries to show how they’ll deliver on this goal. Read the statement.
