Dear Supporter,
As the festive season approaches, like many of you I will be planning visits to friends and family, shopping trips into town, outings with the kids to enjoy the Christmas lights, and all the things that make this time of the year so special.
But for many people, it is becoming increasingly difficult to make a simple visit to a friend’s house for mince pies, or a morning’s shopping on the local high street by bus. In many places buses are not frequent or reliable, and traffic on the roads can make journeys slow. Poorly maintained bus shelters with no timetables or information make catching the bus difficult, and decades of funding cuts have led to many services being reduced or withdrawn completely, leaving some places with no buses at all.
At Campaign for Better Transport, we’re trying to change things. Can you help by donating to Campaign for Better Transport today?

Buses connect us to the people we love, the things we need and the places that matter. In villages and market towns, suburbs and city centres, every community should have a decent bus service. We're working with the Government, bus companies and local councils to improve bus services across the country and ensure that every community has a bus service it can rely on.
With your help, we got the Transport Select Committee (the group of cross-party MPs that advises the Government on transport policy) to include our key asks in its recommendations to Government on how to improve buses. These key asks would help reconnect cut-off communities, as well as improving bus stops for everyone. Now we need to make sure those improvements happen. Your support has helped us get this far.
Can you donate to help us to continue working with the Government and local councils as they progress their plans for buses, to help improve and increase services, and bring back buses to every community?

I live in a village in Suffolk which has just one bus into town each day and one bus back. It’s very precious to those of us who use it, but not many people do because it’s so infrequent. To catch a more regular bus, I must walk or cycle a mile and a half on roads without pavements, which is just not possible for many of my neighbours. As my children get older, the lack of buses is really hampering their independence. So, I’m very aware of the importance of Campaign for Better Transport’s bus campaign – and hopeful about the change it could bring.

With your help we can push for a minimum service level for buses which would ensure every community has a bus service that meets people’s needs. We also want to see bus shelters and stops which are welcoming and well looked after, with all the information needed to make taking the bus simple and attractive.
If you can, please donate to Campaign for Better Transport today to help make this vision a reality.
