John,
I’m reaching out one more time to ask for your help to save dogs like Joey. Today is the last day your gift is matched to fight back against animal cruelty and protect innocent animals who are suffering now. You and the Animal Legal Defense Fund are their best hope for rescue and a second chance at a happy life.
No one cared about Joey. They just wanted her puppies. Joey spent eight years in a puppy mill, confined to a small wire cage and forced to produce puppies again and again. Each time, her pups were taken from her at an early age, neglected, and then sold to pet stores. What Joey endured is entirely legal in the U.S. and common practice at the estimated 10,000 puppy mills that exist across the country. |

Puppy mills like the one Joey lived in abuse and neglect animals to maximize profits. Dogs are often crammed in wire cages and stacked on top of each other — with urine and feces from the dogs above dripping onto the dogs below, causing skin burns and even blindness.
There’s no affection or playtime, no grooming, and little to no veterinary care. The dogs often have fur mats and visible wounds — abscesses, tumors, and cut paws from being forced to stand on wire floors. John, we must stop this abuse, and that means we need the support of people like you. When you become a member of the Animal Legal Defense Fund by midnight tonight, your donation will go twice as far to fight cruelty and save lives like Joey’s!
The Animal Legal Defense Fund is combatting puppy mill abuse through multiple legal channels, including lawsuits and retail pet sale bans that prevent pet stores from selling puppies sourced from puppy mills. But we need your help. Your gift will mean so much to dogs like Joey.
Joey was lucky. She was rescued and now lives in a home where she is loved. But most breeding moms don’t survive puppy mills. They endure lives of suffering, and when they can no longer have puppies, they’re killed — many are drowned or shot. That’s the fate that awaits thousands of dogs right now. That’s why I’m asking you to offer your strongest support to fight for an end to this cruel industry and give animals the legal voice they need. |
Please join us now when your gift is matched dollar for dollar, up to $11,000.
And remember, most puppies sold online and in pet stores come from puppy mills — so please don’t buy them and don’t support this cruel industry. |
For the animals,

P.S. There are many animals in shelters in need of a loving home. If you’re looking to add an animal companion to your family, please adopt — don’t shop. And if you can’t adopt an animal, you can still save a life with your matched gift to the Animal Legal Defense Fund today. |
