Friends,
“Today is a historic day for the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and the many people who have supported us in the fight against the pipeline. This pipeline should have never been built here. We told them that from the beginning.”
That’s Standing Rock Sioux Tribe Chairman Mike Faith speaking shortly after a federal judge halted operation of the Dakota Access Pipeline.
The decision is a victory for the autonomy of America’s indigenous populations -- who should have never had to tolerate infringement on their tribal lands in the first place.
But the Trump administration has already spoken out against the ruling, and the private company running the pipeline has vowed that “oil will continue to flow.” Will you help us fight to defend this hard-won victory -- and the tribal lands it protects? Tell us:
