The EPA is backing down from plans to eliminate Energy Star — the program behind those familiar blue labels that help families choose energy-efficient appliances.
Earlier this year, Trump’s EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin announced plans to scrap Energy Star entirely. But after SEEC Members, environmental advocates, and industry leaders raised the alarm, the agency quietly renewed contracts to keep the program running.
This is a reminder that public pressure and Congressional oversight can protect climate progress.
But we can’t stop here. The same officials who tried to kill Energy Star are looking for ways to undermine clean energy and climate programs across the government.
Thanks to your help in 2024, SEEC PAC was able to re-elect over 95% of our pro-environment members to the U.S. House of Representatives — defying the odds on a night where Democrats lost seats. Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 119th Congress while we continue fighting for a sustainable future.
