Discouraging people from voting by mail, or refusing to make it an option for every voter during a dangerous pandemic, is a modern day form of voter suppression. I believe we ought to be clear about that.

As we speak, far-right leaders are pushing flat-out lies about the safety of voting by mail, trying to use this public health crisis as an excuse to make voting harder.

We saw what happened in Wisconsin and Georgia this spring, where voters were forced to wait in hours-long lines at a very limited number of polling places: People were forced to choose between their health or their Constitutional right and duty to vote.

We can’t let that happen here in Mississippi or other communities across the country come November, especially now with coronavirus cases surging.

We need leaders in Washington to pass a no-excuse early voting option for every voter in this country, now.

Join me in demanding Congress pass no-excuse early voting: Add your name to my petition.

This is going to be one of the most important elections in our lifetimes — and we’re building something historic here in Mississippi. We need to make it as easy and safe as possible for every voter to make their voice heard.

Thanks for all you do.
