Since the shutdown began, calls to the National Hunger Hotline have doubled. We’re continuing to manage those calls despite losing all federal funding for the hotline during the federal shutdown.
This weekend, there has been chaos in SNAP funding during the ongoing Shutdown Hunger Crisis: Late Saturday night, the USDA issued a memo ([link removed]) stating that any state that had been in the process of issuing full SNAP benefits must “immediately undo any steps taken to issue full SNAP benefits for November 2025.”

Hunger was already a crisis.
Hunger in the ‘richest nations in the world’ was skyrocketing before the Shutdown, before H.R.1, before 2025. But action after action by the federal G.O.P. has made it harder for families to eat.
Three ways to join this fight now:

* Volunteer ([link removed]) - find an opportunity to help others eat
