Dear John,
Tuesday night brought more than election wins. It brought a powerful affirmation of our shared values, of women’s leadership, and of the power of women when fully mobilized. And we want to thank you for helping to make it happen.
Thanks to your unwavering support, the Feminist Majority’s political arm, Vote for Equality, helped deliver groundbreaking and historic victories. These victories weren’t just wins on paper—they were bold rejections of the MAGA misogynistic agenda and proof of what happens when feminist organizing has strategy and scale. |
Virginia: Making Feminist History and Securing a Supermajority |
In Virginia, Abigail Spanberger made history as the state’s first woman governor since its founding in 1788, winning 70% of all voters under 30 — her best performance among any age group. When you just look at young women, that percentage jumps to 82%.
This young voter tsunami wasn’t incidental: our Campus Mobilization efforts in key districts helped drive it. Thanks to Vote for Equality, these young voters turned out in droves—to organize, recruit, and engage their campuses.
Even more astonishing, Virginia voters delivered a supermajority in the House of Delegates: 64 seats. Most of these newly elected delegates are women—not career politicians, but advocates, organizers, and community leaders shaped by our movement. One of the flipped seats was in Virginia Tech’s district, where Lily Franklin won by just 766 votes—thanks in no small part to the students who helped push her over the edge. |
Pennsylvania: Protecting the Court, Preserving Rights |
In Pennsylvania, all three progressive Supreme Court justices were retained, ensuring the state’s highest court continues to protect reproductive rights, uphold the ERA, and resist extremist redistricting schemes. These victories, too, were driven by young voters.
The billionaire backers whose dark money flooded the airways and mailboxes failed miserably. But, they’re already mobilizing and raising more millions in preparation for the 2026 Congressional midterm elections where a number of key House and Senate seats are at risk. |
Campus Mobilization:
The Feminist Majority Advantage |
The Feminist Majority’s unique focus on student organizing helped increase young voter turnout for these candidates. In dozens of key districts, our Vote for Equality political action arm recruited and trained teams of paid student organizers on 30 campuses. These teams led voter education drives, marches to the polls, and passed out tens of thousands of informational pieces on our endorsed candidates. A short sampling of what your support helped make possible:
|
- Hollins College organizers engaged students with pumpkin painting and “Design Your Own ‘I Voted’ Sticker” contests.
- Our team at the University of Mary Washington held debate watch parties to energize voters.
- Gettysburg College hosted a Howl-o-ween event featuring puppies to engage voters.
- Kutztown University tabled at Pride Fest to educate the campus community about the importance of the retention election.
|
Young women, in particular, are now the most progressive voting bloc in America. They are informed, engaged, and organizing—and the Feminist Majority has been by their side every step of the way.
Nationwide, the gender gap reached historic highs. In Virginia, 65% of women voted for Abigail Spanberger compared to 48% of men – a 17 point gender gap. |
One Hard Truth About Victory: We Must Do It Again
|
Now we face a critical juncture. We must continue building on this momentum and preparing for the 2026 midterms. There’s no question that we will face a great challenge in the 2026 Congressional Midterms. And if we fail, we risk losing every gain we’ve made. We can’t afford to lose momentum. That’s why we’re launching the 2026 Victory Fund. Here’s how we’ll use your Victory Fund donation—which we hope you’ll make immediately: |
-
Recruit campus organizers for 2026 on key campuses in targeted states
- Support these field teams as they respond fast to voter suppression strategies
|
We know from history that this is precisely when Donald Trump is most dangerous—in the aftermath of a loss. In fact he’s already unleashed his playbook: |
-
Falsely claim the elections were stolen. Before votes were even cast, Trump called voting in Virginia, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania a "scam," and alleged massive fraud in California. On Election Day, he promised criminal investigations and pressured the White House to echo his lies.
-
Suppress votes and subvert elections. With the midterms less than a year away, the GOP is ramping up voter suppression efforts and laying groundwork for more court challenges, misinformation, and election sabotage.
|
It’s an outright assault on women and a war on democracy—and women are on the front lines.
That’s why we’re asking you to make your most generous donation possible to become a founding donor to the 2026 Victory Fund. Or, like hundreds of other committed Feminist Majority supporters, perhaps you will become a monthly donor with $10 or $15 a month. Monthly giving gives us the stability to plan, train, and mobilize in advance—and win again.
Help us make 2026 another historic win. |
Together, we didn’t just win an election. We proved that feminist power, youth leadership, and strategic organizing can make all the difference. Let’s do it. With gratitude, |
Kathy Spillar, Executive Director And the Vote For Equality Team |
