Remembering Vice President Dick Cheney

It is with deep sadness that we mark the passing of a friend and statesman, Vice President Dick Cheney. His life was defined by service; to his family, to the Constitution, and to the country he devoted himself to protecting. My family and I are praying for the Cheney family. May they find comfort in knowing his legacy continues in every American who values liberty, honor, and service.

The Longest Shutdown in American History

As of November 5th, we have entered the longest government shutdown in our nation’s history. The Democrat-led shutdown has turned into a nationwide burden on families, service members, small businesses, and communities who depend on certainty to plan their future.

My GOP colleagues and I have already done what the American people expect of us: We passed a clean Continuing Resolution to reopen the government. I call on Senate Democrats to do the same and end this shutdown.

SNAP Funding: Real Solutions vs. Political Posturing

Washington Democrats have failed their responsibility to the American people. They continue to claim to defend nutrition programs, yet rather than reopen the government, they are depending on temporary court rulings and short-term measures that neither fully fund the program nor guarantee timely delivery.

The contingency fund that keeps SNAP operating cannot meet the full cost of one month of benefits. It also requires significant time to move through state-level processes. The House passed Continuing Resolution fully funds SNAP and the government agencies that support it.

Small Business and the Real Cost of a Shutdown

During a visit to Gemini Tech Services in Parker County, I spoke with Tim and Elizabeth, owners who built their company from two employees to more than 600. I asked what message they wished Americans heard regarding the shutdown’s impact on small businesses.

They did not speak of politics; they spoke of people, workers who depend on their paychecks for rent, groceries, and childcare. They spoke of delayed payments and the fear of furloughing employees they consider family.

Small businesses cannot print money; they cannot tell employees to work today and be paid at a later date. They live on timely payments and trust that their government will remain open. This is not an abstract debate. It is affecting livelihoods across Main Street!

Advancing American Energy Leadership

This week, I sent a letter to Secretary Wright urging the Department of Energy to prioritize geothermal energy development right here in the Great State of Texas. No state is better prepared to lead. We have the workforce, infrastructure, and entrepreneurial spirit to power America’s next chapter of energy independence.

Weatherford Chamber of Commerce Ceremony

It was an honor to join the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce for their groundbreaking ceremony today. Moments like this reflect the very best of Texas: local leaders, business owners, and families coming together to build opportunity from the ground up.
