Talking Hunting

Governor Walz today celebrated the opening weekend of Minnesota’s firearms deer hunting season in Goodhue County. The Governor was hosted by Dan and Mary Lundell on their private land near Cannon Falls. The Governor then visited a chronic wasting disease (CWD) check station with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Commissioner Sarah Strommen, where hunters brought in their deer to be sampled for CWD.

*“Deer season is a special time in Minnesota, whether this is your first hunt or part of a family tradition passed down for generations,” *said Governor Walz. *“Minnesota is known as a premier deer hunting destination, supporting communities across the state. I always enjoy time in the deer stand and the connection it brings to the outdoors and to one another. I wish all Minnesota deer hunters a safe, enjoyable, and successful season.”*

Governor Walz Statement on SNAP Funding

________________________________________________________________________

Governor Walz released the following statement today.

*“November SNAP benefits in Minnesota have been restored.”*

*“This funding, used by children, seniors, and people with disabilities to pay for food, has been in limbo since October. Restoring this funding took numerous court rulings ordering the Trump Administration to use the money they have set aside – for this very purpose – to feed the hungry.”*

*“This cruelty serves no one. The dysfunction caused by this administration, at the *
*expense of real lives, is staggering. But we will not let Minnesotans go hungry.”*
