I often tell people: hope
isn’t easy, but it’s worth it. And this week’s elections reminded me why.

After nearly a year of chaos and cruelty from the Trump administration and
the continued dysfunction we see in Congress, it’s tempting to believe
that nothing will change. But what we saw Tuesday night proves otherwise.

We were reminded that when we collectively choose hope over hate, politics
can move our nation forward.

That glimmer of light is what helped me when I was a kid going through my
own crisis of hope — when I was so afraid that the heart of this country
wasn’t big enough to love someone like me.

But in that darkness, I found that politics — at its best — is where we
can come together to make life a little fairer and a little kinder for one
another.

And that’s what keeps me going. Because time and time again, I’ve seen
what happens when we don’t give up on one another.

When Delaware chose hope, we made history together. We passed paid family
and medical leave. We protected reproductive freedom. And we elected
leaders who reflect the full promise of our democracy —
including my own election as the first openly trans person ever elected to
Congress one year ago this month.

Hope isn’t blind optimism. It’s work. It’s showing up. It’s believing that
persuasion and progress are still possible if we stay persistent and
intentional.

$5 or anything you can — to help us continue talking to
voters across the country, winning conversations, and winning hearts and
minds. Because that’s how we restore faith in what’s possible and build a
country that truly works for all of us.
