Last week, my colleagues and I demanded answers from Donald Trump about one of the most outrageous scandals of this government shutdown:
Trump is building a $250 million ballroom at the White House while millions of Americans go without paychecks and food assistance.
Yes, you read that right.
While federal employees are furloughed, families are struggling to buy groceries, and health care programs are on hold, the president is using this shutdown to quietly demolish parts of the East Wing and begin construction on a luxury ballroom — funded by billionaire donors at a private dinner inside the White House.
This isn't just unethical, it's un-American.
It’s a betrayal of the public trust and a direct insult to every family being hurt by this shutdown.
That’s why we’re demanding full transparency: we’ve requested all documents, communications, and donor records tied to this project. But we need the public’s voice behind us to make sure the truth comes out.
The White House belongs to the people — not billionaires funding secret vanity projects. The American people deserve answers about what’s happening behind closed doors, especially during a shutdown that’s hurting millions.
