Dear friend of IDP,

U.S. cities and towns are coming under attack in unprecedented ways. Localities that protect their immigrant community members are being targeted by the violent deployment of ICE, the National Guard and other militarized federal agencies; by lawsuits challenging sanctuary policies; and by xenophobic and racist rhetoric that seeks to demonize and criminalize non-citizens.

Until now, New York City’s mayor has been not just complicit, but actively colluding with Trump’s mass deportation agenda. This week, we welcome a new chapter for New York City. IDP is ready for this moment and poised to offer real solutions that protect immigrant New Yorkers’ due process rights, strengthen sanctuary laws and policies, and create a city that is safe and welcoming for all.

As we prepare for the work ahead in New York City, New York State, and across the country, we know that defending immigrant rights requires that we join together with others in this struggle—those we have worked with for decades, and those we met just this week. Today, I am writing to invite you to participate in a joint effort to fuel our work in the months ahead.

A small group of anonymous and dedicated supporters of our work, IDP Champions 2026, has made an incredible commitment this year: if we can meet our year end goal, they will double our impact by matching donations up to $50,000.

This gift has a monumental impact on how far your support can go and how nimble we can be at this time - whether by providing critical legal support to immigrants, by fighting for local laws to protect immigrant New Yorkers, by challenging inhumane laws that harm immigrants at the federal level, or by using strategic communications to move hearts and minds.
