I’ve never been one to sit on the sidelines or wait to act. When I see a problem, I try to fix it. I’m not willing to wait or play politics while our country and our values are under attack.
This is not a time for caution but for change. Our future demands that Democrats — across the nation — win. And to do that, we need to be brave enough to put people over politics.
That's what public service means to me, friend. I've never been afraid to call out the institutions that I've served, because principled dissent is an American value that makes us all stronger.
After completing three combat deployments to Iraq, I spoke out against a war that I knew was unjust, and I’ve been fighting for our veterans and our Iraqi and Afghan allies ever since.
I ran for Congress and won against an entrenched establishment-supported incumbent because I didn’t feel my community was getting the leadership it needed to meet our urgent needs. And with my Serve America team, we’ve flipped dozens of Congressional seats from red to blue in the past seven years.
I’ve challenged leaders in my own party when I felt we could do better, and have never accepted "good enough" when too many Americans are being left behind.
Our country is in crisis. People are hurting, scared, and angry. It’s time for a new generation of Americans to take the torch and lead us forward with honor, courage, and commitment.
