Hi there, it’s Peggy Flanagan here.
I have a free minute, so I wanted to take the time and tell you a bit about my story and why I decided to run for Senate. I hope you’re able to read the entire thing, but in case you don’t have the time, will you make a contribution to our people-powered campaign right away?
I’m a born and raised Minnesotan. I was raised by a hardworking single mom who moved us to the community of St. Louis Park with a Section 8 housing voucher when I was just a baby.
She went back to school to become a phlebotomist (a professional vampire), but she couldn’t make ends meet. We relied on SNAP to keep food on the table, and when I was in and out of the hospital with chronic asthma, Medicaid kept me alive.
Even though we were struggling to get by, my mom taught me that you always lend a helping hand, treat your neighbors with kindness, and to always do the next good thing.
Those Minnesota values have guided me throughout my entire career. From serving on the Minneapolis School Board to becoming Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota, I’m always fighting to do the next good thing.
I co-chaired the campaign to raise the minimum wage, led the fight to secure paid family and medical leave, and helped deliver free school lunches for all our kiddos. And I know there’s so much more we can do on the federal level.

Look, I’m not one of DC’s hand-picked candidates. I’m not backed by extreme billionaires or giant corporations. I’m just a mom and Minnesotan who cares about her community.
That’s why I refuse to take any corporate PAC money. I don’t want to be beholden to corporations or special interests — just the people I serve.
Medicare for All, a $17 federal minimum wage, federal paid family leave… it’s all within reach. As long as we have leaders who are willing to fight for it.
Whether you donated or not, I’m grateful you read this entire message.
With gratitude,
💚 Peggy
