Email from Organization Name The streets of Chicago feel right different now. John, The streets of Chicago feel right different now. Unmarked vans prowl at night—masked ICE agents snatching neighbors in silence. Protesters are dragged across pavement by masked federal agents whose names are hidden behind black tape. Soldiers march through city intersections meant for kids on bikes and buses to work. At food banks, federal workers wait in line—their government paychecks frozen. Families scrape together meals as SNAP benefits disappear. Children fall asleep hungry. Seniors cut their pills in half, praying it’s enough to last the week. This is Trump’s America—and it’s only been 11 months. But this week, there was a beacon of hope. Across the country, Democrats won landslide victories. Not the kind propped up by corporate donors or political dynasties—but led by a new generation of Democrats, unfazed by Trump’s fascist threats, determined to defend democracy and deliver for the people suffering most. They came from every faith, every color, every corner of America—a generation forged in crisis but united in purpose. And together, they dominated Republicans from coast to coast, determined to rebuild this nation for the working class. I saw that energy firsthand when I worked for Zohran Mamdani during the primary in New York City. The establishment spent millions trying to destroy our movement—but our campaign was powered by people, and we won anyway. That same exact spirit brought me home to Chicago to work for Bushra Amiwala. And I’m seeing it again. The same fire. The same defiance. The same hope. Bushra’s campaign isn’t fueled by big donors—it’s powered by neighbors, students, and working people who believe in a better future for America. While establishment campaigns write checks, Bushra is building a movement. When ICE began terrorizing our neighbors, Bushra stood by their side even in the face of tear gas and rubber bullets. When AIPAC poured hundreds of thousands into our opponent’s campaign, Bushra outraised them with grassroots donations from ordinary people. And when others paid canvassers to collect signatures, our entirely volunteer-led team hit the streets—door by door, block by block—until we got Bushra on the ballot. This is what democracy looks like in the hands of a new generation. Now we need to keep building. The stakes are too high to let up for even a day. Please John, will you chip in $50, $25, or whatever you can spare to send Bushra’s movement from the streets of Chicago to the halls of Congress?
