John,
FIRST: Donald Trump told Texas Governor Greg Abbott to illegally gerrymander Texas Congressional maps in the middle of the decade — rigging the midterms to lock in Republican control after the 2026 elections. Texas Democrats fought back, but Trump succeeded in eliminating five Democratic seats.
THEN: Trump pushed other states like North Carolina, Ohio, and Missouri to do the same. So California Governor Gavin Newsom fought back with a ballot initiative to level the playing field — and voters overwhelmingly passed it on Tuesday. But Trump is doubling down, trying to corrupt the maps of other states even further.
NOW: Virginia is stepping in to fight back — and I’m helping lead the charge. New maps could reshape my district, but I am standing firm with Virginia Democrats to stop Trump’s power grab and protect fair representation.
But going head-to-head with Trump puts an even bigger target on my back. And knowing he’s sitting on billions to target our seat and pummel us with attacks means we can’t afford to sit back. We need to be ready for anything that comes our way.
