USA for UNFPA

When we say that we will deliver for women and girls no matter what, we mean it. Our skilled healthcare workers travel via boat, camel, and even scale cliffsides to distribute lifesaving care.

We’re only able to care for women and girls in some of the most remote areas of the world because supporters like you have made lifesaving gifts. Will you make your first gift to UNFPA and bring lifesaving care to those who need it most?

RUSH MY GIFT

In regions without passable roads, we are working with local communities to make emergency reproductive care available to all.

In war-torn Yemen, where a woman dies every two hours from childbirth, UNFPA provided camel ambulances so women from remote villages can cross the mountainous terrain and reach hospitals.

These camel rides can take up to 7 hours and be incredibly painful for women who are in labor. But when the alternatives are either walking several miles on foot to reach the nearest health center or giving birth alone, these ambulances have become a lifeline to local communities.

In mountainous regions of the Dominican Republic, motorcycle ambulances help bring pregnant women to nearby care units. Before, they had to walk on foot.

Lucía, a mother from the region, recounted that before the motorcycles, “To go to the hospital, I would walk out and have to sit down to rest because I got dizzy.”

Kabita, a UNFPA worker in Nepal, does not relent in her efforts to deliver care. She spends all day trekking through the Himalayan mountains, scaling icy cliffsides and braving rushing waters.

“Many women are without family planning services. Forget services — they do not even have family planning information, Kabita shared.

She and her colleagues risk their safety to deliver contraceptives to women in need and teach communities about family planning options. By offering these services — no matter what — courageous UNFPA staff members are risking their lives to save others and reduce maternal deaths.

Without our mobile health units, people surviving through war and natural disasters would be left without accessible reproductive health services. Please make a donation to ensure that each and every woman and girl receives the care she needs.

DELIVER LIFESAVING CARE
