Dear neighbor,
This week, California and the country celebrated a huge win. We saw two female governors, Mikie Sherrill and Abigail Spanberger ascend in a decisive victory. I had the privilege of serving with both of them in the House, and entrust that they will serve their states honorably. California also passed Proposition 50 which will counter Trump’s efforts to rig the redistricting process across the nation.
Across the nation one message was clear: the American people are tired of high costs, unaffordable care, and the Trump Administration’s cruel policies. But, the fight is far from over.
This week, Donald Trump beat his own record as the government shutdown drags on into day 38. Over a month into the shutdown, House Republicans are still refusing to reopen the government and save healthcare for millions of Americans. As we head into the season of gathering and giving this month, the Trump administration’s refusal to let November SNAP benefits go out has affected 42 million Americans, preventing families across the nation from putting food on the table.
