Dear Friends,

Families across Illinois are feeling hurt right now. Food assistance is delayed, healthcare costs are climbing, and it’s getting harder for people to make ends meet.

During the shutdown, my office is here to listen, help, and work with federal agencies to get you the answers and support you need.

If your family has been affected by this shutdown, I want to hear from you so I can better advocate for the help and resources you deserve.

SNAP Benefits DelayedImage

Trump’s deliberate decision to illegally freeze funds from SNAP deepens the hunger crisis. SNAP keeps food on the table for families, veterans, seniors, and people with disabilities.

When families can’t eat, everyone feels it—from farmers to grocery stores to parents and children. This crisis isn’t just “their” problem; it’s ours. We’re all in this together.

If SNAP delays are affecting your family, please tell me about it. Your stories help me advocate for families across Illinois.

Resources are available:
Due to the pause in SNAP/LINK benefits, the Greater Chicago Food Depository is setting up additional sites to distribute prepackaged boxes of groceries every Saturday of November. Each box contains more than 20 pounds of food. Resources can be found on their website.

Shutdown Update: We are still here to help
Image

Hardworking families across Illinois are feeling the strain of the government shutdown. Delayed SNAP benefits and rising healthcare costs are making it harder for people to get by. No one should have to worry about feeding their family or affording care because of gridlock in Washington.

When dealing with federal agencies feels impossible, my Constituent Services team is here to help. We cut through the red tape and connect you with the answers and resources you deserve.

Affordable Care Act - Monthly Premiums

Image

Many families across Illinois are seeing their health insurance costs rise by thousands of dollars a year. For a couple nearing retirement or a young family with kids, that’s a major hit to the household budget.

These costs are not inevitable—they’re the result of inaction to protect affordable healthcare by Republicans in Washington, DC. I’m pushing for solutions that lower premiums and protect the care families count on. If you've received your new Premium Notice, I want to hear from you. Will you share the impact of this new premium with me?
