In less than one year since his inauguration, Trump and his unqualified cabinet members have used their positions to muddy facts and distort the hard truths taught for generations. John, the rise of conspiratorial and anti-science rhetoric is another planned method Trump is using to further divide Americans. Do not fall for it.
It was no coincidence that he picked someone with no experience in healthcare or medical research to run the Department of Health and Human Services.
It was no coincidence that he picked someone to run the Department of Justice who spreads baseless claims about the 2020 election being “stolen”.
It was no coincidence that he picked a professional wrestling executive to run the Department of Education.
These facts all point to the Republican war on knowledge.
By slotting unqualified loyalists into highly-influential, critical positions, Trump has given the green light to the spread of misinformation and lies.
Knowledge is the base of effective action. When we are armed with accurate information, we are powerful. In an autocracy, anything that inspires resistance is the enemy. Therefore, knowledge has no place in Trump’s America.
So, John, next time you’re shocked by the lies and heinous distortions spewed by Trump or one of his MAGA minions, just remember it's a desperate attempt to silence you. Don’t ever stop speaking up.
Thanks for stepping up when it matters most,
Stacey Abrams
