The countdown is officially on.

With less than a year to go until Election Day, the nasty attacks MAGA Republicans are already running against me are only going to escalate. Lies, smears, personal attacks, you name it — it’s all coming our way extremely soon.

So before we face that mountain of attack ads, I want to take a moment to set the record straight. But before I go on: If you don’t have a minute to read this email all the way through, and you already know you’re with me, I’d be extremely grateful if you could pitch in to help me defend this seat.

A lot of MAGA Republicans out there believe I’m going to run away from my record come next year. That I’m going to turn myself into something that I’m not and hide from my work to hold Trump accountable, take on the gun lobby, and end government corruption.

Look, that’s what Republicans do when it’s time for an election. Hide, deflect, lie, do everything in their power to mislead their own constituents. But that’s not the way I do things. I want everyone to hear about who I am, what I’ve accomplished, and what I’m fighting for:

I ran for Congress to get things done and hold the line against Trump’s disastrous agenda. As an SEC prosecutor and State Senator, I stood up for the little guy time and time again. And as soon as I arrived in Washington earlier this year, I hit the ground running to make progress, defend our democracy, and protect CA-47 families from Trump’s cruelty.

Now, I’ve become one of the most outspoken Democrats in Washington. After winning my last election by just 2 points, many political pundits believed I would play it safe and avoid rocking the boat. They were wrong. My constituents are counting on me to get loud, fight back, and treat this moment with the urgency it requires. So that’s what I’ve done.

I will NEVER lose sight of what I’m fighting for: Strong schools, safe communities, and a healthy, thriving democracy we can pass on to our kids. If you believe that’s the kind of leadership our communities deserve — not a representative who blindly bows to Donald Trump — I hope you’ll pitch in to my re-election campaign today.
