Hi, it’s Gabby Giffords! I’m a former U.S. representative from Arizona, gun violence survivor and advocate, and I’m coming to Iowa with my husband Senator Mark Kelly this Sunday.

I’m honored to join the Iowa Democratic Party to speak at their Liberty and Justice event. Iowa is an important state for Democrats in the 2026 midterms, and the momentum we’ve already seen is impressive.

In four special elections this year, Iowa Democrats overperformed expectations and even flipped a couple of seats. Being from Arizona, I know what it’s like to compete in a battleground state with all eyes on you. The energy we’ve seen is a positive sign for next November.

With an open Governor and Senate race for the first time since 1968, and 3 House districts rated as “in play” by the DCCC, Iowans will have some tough fights on their hands and will need to put their best foot forward with all of the promising candidates they have ready to deliver results for the state’s future.

I can’t stress enough how instrumental the Iowa Democratic Party is in making sure Democrats can win all of the important battleground races next fall.

Without the backbone of a strong central organization like IDP, local, state, and federal races would tip in Republicans’ favor. IDP is helping Iowa Democrats get engaged, motivated, and ready to vote for change.

I’ll save more of my thoughts for my speech on Sunday, but before I go, I’m asking you to support IDP ahead of the Liberty and Justice event. It takes a lot of resources to put on an event like this — from costs for security, decorations, and staff — and this big, high energy event is just the kickoff to the midterms.

Will you chip in $25 to IDP today to make the Liberty and Justice event, and the 2026 midterms, a big success for Iowa Democrats?
