It has been more than a month since the government shutdown. Food assistance through SNAP ran out of money last Friday. 38,000 people in Northwest Washington can no longer afford to put food on the table to feed their families because of the Trump Administration.

The Trump Administration can fully fund SNAP through this month, but they are choosing not to. This is a deliberate choice to let kids, veterans, and seniors go hungry. The Administration has allowed healthcare costs, grocery prices, and gas prices to increase. When Trump fast-tracked his Big Ugly Bill this summer, he cut billions in funding for SNAP through 2034.
He refuses to fund food assistance programs because he does not care about working families. He cares about the richest Americans and the largest corporations, and this decision is another clear indication of that.
I know how important SNAP benefits are. The long-term consequences of hungry families and children are profound, which is why I am working to fix healthcare, reopen the government, and push the administration to make the right choice on SNAP benefits. I hope you will continue to stand behind me.
More soon,
Rick
