By now, you probably know that GOP Speaker of the House Mike Johnson is still refusing to swear in Adelita Grijalva, who was elected by the people of Arizona’s 7th Congressional District more than six weeks ago to represent them. 

MAGA Republicans are blatantly ignoring the will of the people. Unfortunately, that’s nothing new for Arizonans.

When I was Secretary of State, Donald Trump spread baseless conspiracy theories about the 2020 election in Arizona. On January 6th, 2021, MAGA Republicans tried to overturn Arizona’s electoral college votes and steal the election for Donald Trump.

It didn’t stop there. In 2022, Kari Lake lied over and over about our elections — and she refused to concede for weeks after I clearly defeated her campaign.

John, the refusal to swear in Adelita Grijalva is just the latest example of MAGA Republicans undermining our democracy and refusing to listen to voters. Arizonans are sick and tired of it.

I’m determined to keep power in the hands of Arizonans, not MAGA extremists. But Donald Trump is laser-focused on flipping this governor’s seat red, and if we’re going to win this toss-up race and prevent a MAGA takeover in Arizona, we need to ensure we have the resources to respond to whatever attacks come our way in 2026.
