What Do Conservatives Believe? (Freedom Focus)

Fighting antisemitism and unconstitutional tariffs, protecting Christians abroad, and a new book announcement.

Greetings from all of us at Advancing American Freedom. Despite another week of the government being shut down, we’ve been busy fighting for the conservative policies that help our nation become more strong, prosperous, and free.

AAF President Tim Chapman: Antisemitism is Festering on the Right

This past week, Tucker Carlson hosted Nick Fuentes, one of the country’s most vicious and vile antisemites, giving him a softball interview that has the political right engulfed in one of the most important debates of our lifetime.

AAF will always stand for our nation’s values of religious freedom and alongside Israel, our greatest partner in the Middle East. For AAF’s thoughts on this dark moment for the conservative movement, see AAF President Tim Chapman’s strong condemnation of antisemitism, as well as his fuller interview with The Dispatch’s Steve Hayes on the Carlson-Fuentes affair.

What Conservatives Believe: AAF’s Founder Announces New Book
Mike Pence: What Conservatives Believe

This week, AAF Founder Vice President announced his latest book: What Conservatives Believe: Rediscovering the Conservative Conscience.

Conservatives know that wisdom often begins by consulting the people who came before us. As Barry Goldwater wrote, conservative principles persist because they are rooted in the truth. But this isn’t just a book about the past. It’s about how time-tested conservative principles can be applied to the problems of tomorrow.

With candid insights after decades as a happy warrior in the movement, Vice President Pence convincingly explains why the Republican Party must choose enduring conservative principles over the temptations of big-government populism.

U.S. Must Protect Nigerian Christians
AAF has been at the forefront raising awareness of Christian persecution in Nigeria. Recently, AAF Senior Advisor Paul Teller wrote an op-ed detailing the need for action by the U.S. in order to hold the Nigerian government accountable for violating the religious freedom of its own citizens. We’re thankful that President Trump decided to designate of Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern,” and will continue to push for consequential change. Watch Vice President Pence discuss it here.

Tariffs vs. Farmers
For decades, conservatives championed free market trade policies that helped American producers grow and thrive. But today, too many on the Right are celebrating the use of tariffs - which instead of punishing foreign nations have harmed domestic farmers by driving up costs for feed and machinery. AAF Chairman Marc Short and Senior Fellow Joel Griffith lay out the problems farmers are facing due to tariffs in their newest op-ed in the Washington Times.

It’s time to end the tariffs, tear down trade barriers, and let America’s farmers and ranchers do what they do best: feed the world and fuel our freedom.

Analysis of Supreme Court Oral Arguments in Tariff Case
This week, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in the cases challenging many of President Trump’s tariffs, the outcome of which will affect the course of politics and constitutional law for decades. Jeffrey Schwab, one of the attorneys representing V.O.S. Selections, Inc., economic historian Phillip Magness, and members of the Advancing American Freedom Foundation legal team walked us through what happened at oral arguments and what this case means for the Constitution and economic liberty.

We had an excellent turnout of Hill staffers at the Capitol Hill Club, as well as online attendees for our webinar that afternoon. Thanks to your support, we are able to continue the push for economic policies that benefit our nation for decades to come.

Thank you for your support for AAF’s mission to promote and defend the ideas that have made this nation great - free markets, traditional values, and strong American leadership abroad.
Did you know we have a sister 501(c)(3) organization called Advancing American Freedom Foundation that accepts tax deductible gifts?

Several donors have asked about different options as they are considering year-end gifts. We ask you to consider a special, year-end, tax-deductible gift given how important it is to stand firm for our shared values. Watch a video about AAF’s vision here.

If you have any questions, please contact Roger Custer at 703-338-8615 or via email at [email protected].

Here are ways you can give:

1. Stock

You can avoid capital gains taxes by gifting stock directly to Advancing American Freedom Foundation. The top federal tax rate is 37%, and your top tax rate could soar close to 50% when combined with state capital gains taxes. Moreover, if you itemize, you may still take a charitable tax deduction for the fair market value of your gift provided you held your stock for more than one year. If you would like to make a gift of stock, please contact AAF Development Director Roger Custer at 703-338-8615 or [email protected] to learn the details.

2. Individual Retirement Account (IRA)

If you are 70½ or older, you can make a tax-free gift of up to $108,000 from your IRA to Advancing American Freedom Foundation. This qualified charitable distribution (QCD) counts toward your required minimum distribution (RMD) without increasing your taxable income. You can simply tell your IRA plan administrator to make a gift directly to Advancing American Freedom Foundation, 801 Pennsylvania Ave NW, Suite 930, Washington, DC 20004, tax identification # 87-2090900.

3. Donor Advised Fund

If you have a fund with Fidelity, Vanguard, National Christian Foundation, Donors Trust, Bradley Impact Fund, or any other Donor Advised Fund, you can recommend a gift be made to Advancing American Freedom Foundation, 801 Pennsylvania Ave NW, Suite 930, Washington, DC 20004, tax identification # 87-2090900.
