Wyoming District Court Upholds Election Integrity Laws Banning Crossover Voting, Wyoming’s “Sore Loser”

CHEYENNE, WY – On November 7, Wyoming District Court Judge Nathaniel Hibben granted summary judgment in favor of Wyoming Secretary of State Chuck Gray, upholding Wyoming’s ban on crossover voting, and Wyoming’s “sore loser” law, which bans unsuccessful primary candidates from running as independents.

“Today’s ruling granting our motion for summary judgment is a huge win for the integrity of Wyoming’s elections,” Secretary Gray said in a statement. “Protecting the election process by banning crossover voting has been a key part of our administration’s election integrity agenda. With this ruling, it is confirmed what we, the citizens of Wyoming, knew all along: these laws are constitutional, and pivotal to ensuring election integrity in Wyoming.”
