August is historically a hard month for grassroots fundraising among Democrats. When we fell short of our mid-month goal, that raised the pressure on our ability to hit our marks before the month ended.

I know we’re an underdog in this race right now and that others have a big leg up on fundraising -- that’s fine. We don’t need to match them dollar for dollar, but we can’t afford to fall behind. Not now.

The dynamics of this race are changing every single day -- in the last week, this crowded field got a little smaller. Next month, Americans will tune in to see a lot fewer people on the debate stage, and I’m excited to be one of the people you’ll see.
