In just a moment, I’m going to ask you to make your first contribution to my campaign for Congress. But first, I want to share why this matters so much to me.
My name is Angela Gonzales-Torres. I was born and raised in North East LA, where my mom raised me and my three sisters as a single parent after my dad was deported.
We moved around a lot. We stayed with family, in shelters, and in Section 8 housing. I’ve worked minimum wage jobs. I put myself through community college. And when I saw my neighbors being pushed out by rising rents and corporate greed, I started organizing to stop evictions and to fight back when the system failed us.
Now, I’m running to represent the same community that raised me. I know what it feels like to be left out and unheard. I know what this moment calls for. I know what it means to struggle. I know that Los Angeles deserves someone who never forgot what it feels like to live on the edge.
I’m not backed by corporate PACs or billionaire donors. Our campaign is powered by people just like you: people who believe we deserve better.
