John, we had to reach out.

Earlier this year, we watched Ryan Zinke and Republican extremists vote to pass Trump’s tax scam — which threatened to rip health insurance away from thousands of children, shutter rural hospitals across Montana, and add trillions of dollars to the national debt.

Last month, those same Republicans SHUT DOWN our government because they’d rather protect Trump’s tax scam and feed their own wallets than protect American families.

And now, this Republican-led shutdown is delaying SNAP benefits and is forcing nearly 80,000 Montanans to go without food assistance in November. It’s cruel. It’s unethical. And we will not stand for it, John.

Republicans in Washington refuse to negotiate on behalf of the constituents they vowed to protect, so Montana Democrats are taking matters into our own hands: We have organized a statewide drive to help stock food banks, feed Montana neighbors, and ensure Montanans don’t go hungry at the expense of extremists like Ryan Zinke.

John, Montana Democrats know that feeding people isn’t a game – it’s a responsibility. Together, we have a chance to work toward a better future for all of us: good-paying jobs, strong public schools, access to health care and food assistance. But, I’ll be honest, funding these efforts isn’t easy – or cheap – work.
