Dear John,
This week, President Trump broke his own record for the longest government shutdown in American history. Meanwhile, House Republicans have made it crystal clear they have no interest in getting back to the table to address the affordability crisis in our country. Speaker Mike Johnson is still refusing to call the House back into session so we can do the people's work. And House Republicans? Still haven’t shown up to work.
Last week, President Trump chose not to fully fund SNAP in November – even though they have the funds and the legal responsibility to do so. And this week, after two federal courts ruled he must fund SNAP, he announced on social media that he would refuse. After a flurry of additional legal filings, USDA announced at 10 pm Wednesday night that they would distribute SNAP food assistance – only to reverse course and now appeal the decision and not send dollars to those in need.
People are hungry right now. Many don’t know where their next meal is coming from. These are single mothers, 16 million children, 8 million seniors and 1.2 million veterans who served and were willing to die for our nation. President Trump said it on social media as if this was a completely normal thing to do – and he said the quiet part out loud. He's using food assistance as political leverage.
Meanwhile, he’s throwing 1920’s themed parties for his billionaire friends at Mar-A-Lago. While Minnesotans are seeing their health insurance premiums skyrocket and struggling to afford the basics – the President is wining and dining his billionaire donors.
Let me be crystal clear. This president is not a king. He does not get to choose whether he follows court orders. The Trump Administration must comply with the court order to fully fund SNAP and should use its legal authorities to ensure people receive their full food assistance in November.
This isn’t what our country voted for. And Trump’s billionaire-first, Minnesota-last agenda isn’t going to make our country great. I will not stop fighting for a better Minnesota and a better country for our children. Today, and every day.

Open Enrollment for MNSure will remain open until January 15.
Republicans are still refusing to come to the table to lower your health care costs – and folks across Minnesota are seeing their premiums increase.
If you or your loved ones are seeing your costs go up, I want to hear from you. Please share your story with me and my office here.
Here’s what else I’ve been up to this week:
Standing up for SNAP
The Trump Administration made the heartless, lawless choice to ignore a court order requiring that they distribute SNAP benefits this week.
I led my fellow House Democrats in condemning this Administration’s illegal and cruel actions.
I won’t stop fighting for SNAP.
Fighting to protect MN Soybean farmers
In Minnesota, soybean farmers are crumbling under the President’s trade war.
Rather than putting American family farmers first – President Trump is giving handouts to Argentina – one of our top soybean competitors. What the hell happened to America first?

Honoring Chief New
Congratulations to Eagan Police Department Chief Roger New on his retirement after 31 years serving the Eagan community. I'm wishing him all the best in this next chapter.
Behind the scenes:
Last Friday, I got to spend Halloween trick-or-treating with my grandson, Wyatt. He went as a dinosaur, and I just couldn’t resist joining him in my own T-Rex costume! There’s nothing I love more than being a Mimi to my three grandsons, and I’ll do anything to spend time with my favorite little dinosaur.
My wife, Cheryl, chose Dakota’s costume and... let’s just say she sure made a splash!

Until next time,
Angie Craig
