Hi Friend,

Five years ago, world leaders at the United Nations adopted 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) -- big, ambitious commitments like achieving zero poverty, zero hunger and creating a more equitable, just and sustainable world by 2030.

This roadmap to a better world starts with supporters like you, Friend. Your passion and commitment to children fuels the work that brings UNICEF closer to meeting these goals every year.

We often tell you stories about what children need, somewhere in the world. But we rarely share the other vital part of what we do: tracking data and progress on a global scale. We believe problems that go unmeasured often go unsolved -- and so we are relentless in our effort to achieve measurable outcomes, from ending malnutrition to putting every girl in school.

What kind of progress are we seeing? With ten years left to reach these ambitious goals, here's how far along the world has come:

- Every child survives and thrives: Succeeding!
- Every child learns: More data needed
- Every child is protected from violence and exploitation: An ambitious goal with lots of work to do
- Every child lives in a safe and clean environment: On track!
- Every child has a fair chance in life: More data needed

I know that these benchmarks can seem lofty and a bit intimidating. But remember, every step we take in the right direction, no matter how incremental, means more children's lives saved or improved.

With your help, we won't stop making and measuring progress until we reach every goal, and every child. There's still so much work left to do, but we can change the world over the next 10 years, if we do it together.
