Technology that’s supposed to keep us safe should never become a tool for tracking or abuse. That’s why Senator Ron Wyden and I have called on the Federal Trade Commission to investigate Flock Safety, the nation’s largest license-plate camera operator, for failing to implement basic cybersecurity protections and exposing Americans’ personal data to hackers, criminals, and foreign spies.

Flock’s system spans 49 states, including Illinois, and captures billions of data points about where people live, drive, and worship. Yet the company doesn’t even require multi-factor authentication for law enforcement access, leaving this vast trove of sensitive information dangerously unprotected. At least 35 Flock customer accounts have already been compromised by stolen passwords, and the company’s refusal to adopt the federal government’s own gold-standard security measures puts every community at risk.

This latest push builds on my earlier oversight work investigating how Flock’s technology has been used to track women across state lines after receiving abortion care and to conduct unauthorized immigration enforcement in jurisdictions with sanctuary protections. No American should be monitored or targeted simply for exercising their rights. Our message is simple: public safety and personal privacy are not opposing goals—they depend on each other. I’ll keep fighting to ensure that technology serves the public interest, protects civil liberties, and defends the freedoms it was meant to secure.

Last week, I appeared on the BBC’s Newsnight to highlight the urgent need for testimony in the investigation of Andrew Mountbatten Windsor and his ties to Jeffrey Epstein. Survivors deserve answers, and no one should evade scrutiny simply by remaining overseas. I made clear that if Mr. Mountbatten Windsor travels to the United States, he must be prepared to testify before Congress, including by subpoena if necessary. If he remains outside U.S. jurisdiction, the responsibility falls to the Trump administration to work with our British allies to secure his cooperation through the existing Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty.

That’s why I’ve called on the Trump administration to engage with the U.K. government to obtain his testimony and ensure full transparency. The Administration must also release the so-called “Epstein Files,” which includes hundreds of gigabytes of materials, and allow Congress to conduct meaningful oversight into how Epstein’s network operated for so long without accountability. I will continue pressing Attorney General Bondi, Secretary of State Rubio, and my colleagues in Congress to ensure there is no cover-up and that every witness is held to the same standard of truth. Justice demands transparency, and survivors deserve nothing less.
