Here’s a quick deep-dive into what Prop 50 does and why it matters -- especially for CA-22 and Randy Villegas’s people-powered campaign:

• Prop 50 will shift this district by 4-5 points toward Democrats. That’s a huge deal in a race this close. David Valadao has barely clung to this seat for years. With new lines that better reflect the communities Randy grew up in, we have a clearer path to victory.
   
• Every major elections analyst now calls CA-22 a pure toss-up. Immediately after Prop 50 passed, Cook Political Report and Sabato’s Crystal Ball both moved CA-22 from “Leans Republican” to “Toss-Up.” We’ve always known a working-class, local leader like Randy can win here – now, we’ve got an even better shot.
   
• Winning here could flip the U.S. House. CA-22 is now one of the most Democratic-leaning competitive districts in the country. National Republicans know that if Randy wins, it could decide control of Congress -- which is why GOP super PACs are already gearing up to flood the airwaves with attacks.
